Massachusetts Unemployment Export
Summary
The Massachusetts Unemployment Export tool is used to generate the .csv file containing the unemployment data required by the Massachusetts Division of Unemployment Assistance (DUA).
Step by Step
1 Open the MA Unemployment window (PR> State Reports> MA Unemployment).
2 Configure the report.
- The Quarter and Year fields are used to filter the report by quarter and year. The paychecks will be included into quarters and years based on the date type selected in the Date to Use field below.
- The Date To Use drop-down field is used to select the type of date that will be used to filter the paychecks that display on the report.
- Select Batch if you would like to filter the paychecks by the batch month and batch year used when creating the checks. The first day of the batch month will be used to complete the date.
- Select Check if you would like to filter the paychecks by check date.
- Select Period End if you would like to filter the paychecks by the period end date of the batch used to generate the checks.
- The Employer Account field is used to enter the employer account number your organization uses when submitting unemployment data to DUA.
- Once the export file is configured, click the Display icon to display the expected file layout. Click here for information on File Layouts.
- The MA Unemployment Export standard layout is as follows:
- “S” (Constant)
- SSN (9 character width)
- Last Name (20 character width, right padded with spaces)
- First Name (12 character width, right padded with spaces)
- Middle Initial (1 character width, right padded with spaces)
- Blank Space (2 character width)
- “0” (Constant)
- Blank Space (3 character width)
- Unemployment wages (no decimal, 14 character, left padded with zeros)
- Blank Space (68 character width)
- Hours worked (no decimal, 3 character width, left padded with zeros)
- Blank Space (12 character width)
- Employer Account Number (8 character width, right padded with spaces)
- Blank Space (7 character width)
- “0” (Constant)
- Blank Space (11 character width)
- Taxable wages (no decimal, 14 character, left padded with zeros)
- Taxes Paid (no decimal, 14 character, left padded with zeros)
- Blank Space (5 character width)
- “01” (Constant)
- Month 1 (1 character width, 1 signifies check was during first month of quarter, 0 signifies it was not)
- Month 2 (1 character width, 1 signifies check was during second month of quarter, 0 signifies it was not)
- Month 3 (1 character width, 1 signifies check was during third month of quarter, 0 signifies it was not)
- Quarter (2 digit)
- Year (4 digit)
- Blank Space (56 character width)
- The MA Unemployment Export standard layout is as follows:
3 Export the file.
- Click the Confirm icon when complete to generate the export file immediately or enter a date and time in the field next to the Confirm icon to schedule the export file to generate at a later time.
- You can view the progress of the export on the Job Viewer window (SS> Utilities> Show Scheduled Jobs). Click here for information on the Jobs Viewer window.
- Once the export has finished processing, the Export Settings window will open. This window is used to specify the export path for the file.
- Check the Open toggle if you would like to open the exported file after it is saved locally.
- Enter the export path location and click the Save icon to export the file to the local path.
